Customer stories

Read about how we’ve helped our customers reduce plastic waste.

The Lyttleton Port Company (LPC) operates the largest port in the South Island. Before coming to Spout, LPC disposed of 10,000 plastic bottles every year and served cuppas to more than 800 staff.

LPC approached Spout in 2021, looking for a way to address the waste problem and offer staff a locally produced sustainable milk supply that minimised product waste and delivery footprints.

This presented LPC with a new challenge as port staff work 24/7 365 days a year across three Canterbury sites with multiple kitchens and cafeterias.

Spout worked with LPC to design a custom solution and LPC installed multiple milk dispensing points across the company. Milk is delivered to a central facility where LPC’s outsource contractor bottles milk and distributes it to smaller locations and individual refrigerators across the port.

Since launching with Spout in 2021, LPC have helped remove over 25,000 plastic milk bottles from Canterbury landfill sites and other waste streams.

Catalyst is a Dunedin cafe that lives and breathes sustainability.

When Catalyst first opened, they were looking for a way to eliminate plastic waste across their business.

We worked with Catalyst to set up a tap system that dispenses kombucha, nitro cold brew coffee, and fresh milk with zero plastic!

Since then, Catalyst has saved more than 8,500 plastic bottles from waste streams.
